Napping with her Babies

Fionna by the woodstove. She gathered her favorite toys and bones up and situated them within easy reach prior to settling down.

Snow Play

This why the dogs look so tired when they're relaxing around the wood stove. Yes, we do leave our lawn furniture out all winter. It's LLBean all weather furniture and it's worth its weight in gold. The chairs have been wintering out for 18 years without any noticeable changes.

And Then There Were 4

Tonight Reed decided to walk on the treadmill and just see what would happen. With in 30 seconds he had three dogs walking with him. They just jumped on board.

Poor Hutch was watching and trying to figure out where he could fit in the scheme of things. Finally, he made his move and then there were four.  It looks like Hutch jumps off but he didn't. I have more video I'll put below.

Notice Fionna nipping at the hem of Reed's pants. She's letting him know she's there in case he decides to hand out treats.

Editing to add a second video.

Look What Happened Yesterday!

Reed was walking Fionn and Reilly on the Treadmill when Fionna decided she wanted to join in on the fun. Note she has no lead. She spontaneously jumped on and continued to walk for 20 minutes. She's a high energy little dog and would run and walk 6 times a day if you let her. She may have also been angling for another breakfast but was happy with a doggy biscuit.

Reilly wasn't sure he was too happy with the change. He's our Dandy and is pretty sure the world revolves around him. As you can see, by the time I was able to film them he got over it.

Great Sale plus a Discount Code

I meant to write this post earlier but you know how that goes.

Previously I put up a post about The Balance Ball DVDS. I've owned and used the VHS version of these workouts since they were released in the late 1980s maybe.

The backdrop is a bubbling brook. Suzanne Deason is serene. Think stress relief with a toning benefit.

The DVD versions are now on sale (today only) at Total Fitness DVDs for $1.99 each. That's $13.00 off the retail for each DVD!

The above link will take you to the website where you can search for "Suzanne Deason" and they should pop up.

Or I'll try to give individual links below.

Upper Body,  Lower Body, ABs

So here's where it gets wild, use the code "10OFF" for an additional 10% off your order. There are also loads of other great items on sale.

4 Jack Russell Connemara Terrors and Their Cat Do New Years Resolutions!

First up Fionna who says:
I'm going to exercise daily and make sure I eat my nutrient dense, species appropriate dog food in proper portions to be my healthiest.

I also need to stop hanging around with mom so much because, dang it all, she's really starting to rub off on me and I'm not sure I like it!

EEK! I'm even doing run on sentences like she does!

Hutch says:
I'm going to avoid walking up too many hills and perform a series of daily Up dogs and Down dogs in order to elongate my leg muscles. I'm hoping this will give them a longer, sleeker appearance.

Reilly says:
I'm going to stop using my impossible cuteness to my advantage. Well only 50% of the time because let's face it, when you're blessed with this much cuteness it would be a sin not to use it at least part of the time. Please don't hate me. I come by it naturally.

Fionn (that's Finn to you) says:
I'm going to stop stealing Dad's gloves out of his pockets - right under his nose, hee hee.

I'm warning you though, underwear and socks? Those are still fair game!

BTW, I prefer Van Heusen undies and LLBEAN socks.

Starsky the cat says: Their Cat? THEIR CAT??? Between you and me I own those dogs. I'm going do my best to tease the life out of those dogs. THEIR CAT? They'll be eating those words in 2016.

Reilly adds: It's really a shame that mom didn't catch my best angle in that picture but even at my worst I'm still way cuter than the cat! Don't ya think? heh, heh heh

Thanks for reading. Stay tuned to see how those resolutions pan out in 2016!

PS, This is mom to this pack. I thought maybe I'd vow to put and end to run on sentences and maybe even a few of my other grammatical faux pas but honestly it drives the grammar police crazy and it's part of my charm so I guess you can't count on that changing in 2016! ;)

Happy New Year 2016!

I posted this update and my goal for 2016 on the Dr. Fuhrman forums but I thought I'd put it here for easy reference.

We are still doing well. We're moving into 2016 strong. Dr. Greger's book and now his app have helped. Quite an eye opener!

I'm also looking forward to Dr. Fuhrman's next book, though I'm not sure when it is due out. His books always serve to reopen my eyes and assure me that our path is true!

We're doing a 30 day free Green Smoothie Challenge because Dr. Greger's book made us realize that we don't get enough fruit. Berries we get, but not a good enough variety of fruit. The smoothie challenge will help us hit 4-5 of Dr. Greger's 12 daily goals. (I'll adjust fruit amounts as needed and probably add a bit more greens along with our daily flax.)

We'll play the same game with GBOMBS. It's a shame that Dr.Greger's app doesn't allow a few customizable fields so we could add in onions and mushrooms.

The crazy thing is that playing a game to see how many goal foods you can get into a delicious, healthy meal feels so much better to me than forcing myself to only eat the prescribed GBOMBS at each meal. I'm not talking about cheating but about living large in health. The recipes Dr. Fuhrman has been sending out lately look fantastic. We'll be incorporating a few of those into our weekly meal plans.

I'm also enjoying exercising. On nasty days my dogs and I now walk on the treadmill together twice a day - 2 dogs at a time, so 4 sessions daily. I "Freebound on my Bellicon, T-Tapp and throw in a bunch of other fitness activities just for fun. No Cross Country Skiing yet because there's almost no snow!

My New Year's goal is to jettison as many joyless things that are part of my life as possible. Not just clutter, I'm giving away a small TV, stereo and speakers on Saturday, but habits and things I feel that I need to do but maybe don't really need to do. It's not going to be easy but I have a feeling that if I'm tenacious about it I will pick up steam.

Finally, I'm pretty sure I gain a few pounds over the holidays. My clothes fit well but I still feel as if I've gained. I'm sure that if I gained those pounds will drop off as we get back to a more normal pattern of meals so I'm not going to stress over it. (I made a total of 5 vegan, desserts over the holiday season starting with Thanksgiving through today, serving 5 people and we still have leftovers)

And the Christmas Cactus blooms? They were a pretty vanilla with peachy pink accents, which actually blossomed on Yule - the Winter Solstice.
Choosing nutritionally excellent food all the time is of primary importance because it allows me to live the life I'm meant to live - A life filled with love, joy and contentment - A life where I get to be in control.

But eating, now that's not important at all. I don't need to even think about much. Making it a big deal only serves to distract me from the joy of life. I get hungry, I eat. It's really that simple.
